Reviews RACD111

From the sublime to the nefarious now courtesy of Norway´s Shining, arguably the jazz group from hell. Led by saxophonist Jørgen Munkeby, these exponents of "black jazz" (their own terminology for an unlikely fusion og heavy metal and avant-jazz improv) produce music that you can´t ignore. "Shining", a compilation containing their two excellent Rune Grammofon albums, 2005's "In The Kingdom Of Kitsch You Will Be A Monster" and 2007's "Grindstone", isn't for the faint hearts, but for lovers of esoterica and those who like jazz with a visceral edge, it's a must-have.
